Lineage
The great traditions of India have endured because they provide guidance, methods and the means to explore the great questions that arise from life on this planet. Yoga, Ayurveda, Vedanta, Tantra and especially perhaps Jyotisha are all intact cohesive canons of knowledge because of a key element that predates the writing of the Vedas some 2500-4000 years ago. This key to preserving and keeping relevant all important knowledge is found in the teacher/student relationship and the oral tradition. The teacher is the giver of the gift, enlivening both subject matter and student.
I have been blessed indeed to be a student of Hart de Fouw, to have had direct instruction on Jyotisha from MantriJi, to have been tutored in Ayurveda by Dr. Robert Svoboda and in Vedanta by Swami Dayananda. These men are all true luminaries in the Indian sampradaya and the breadth and depth of the teaching I have received from each of them has brought transformation over the 35 years that these subjects have been the focus of my life. I remain in gratitude for the rest of this life.
